OK received the bike the other day as I was loading the last of my 3 bikes I sold on eBay recently, so the garage wasn't empty for long!!

Good bits: Bodywork is nice and unfaded but has some scratches and a few dings.
I will send it out to Left,Center,Right Triples CT to fix and blend original paintwork.
Front end is mint. Every nut bolt and washer is original never been apart. Frame/swingarm looks mint apart from RH foot peg bent in a bit.

Bad Bits: Engine was locked. Carbs are mint and in good condition.
Got heads off, mucho oil penetrant still locked. Got cylinders off they look great albeit lots of gunk. Engine still locked. Got a spanner on CDI nut and it freed off but looks dirty in there and center piston skirt was very badly damaged  Neutral cylinder looks fine though. Exhausts are great condition except each has the usual road rash flat spots on the bottom.

So looks like a full resto instead of clean up as is.

Good news is Stevey boy has a million of pics of his resto and I don't need to worry about that. mine wont be a 100 point resto like Schumi but I intend to get her looking like a nice say 10K bike back in the day I think is the best way to go.......but who knows what do you think?
Also any crank and exhaust guru's in the U.S or are they all back in the UK?

Rgds Steve

Well some down time and started dismantling and now down to bare frame with everything catalogued and bagged up.
The plan for this bike is now clear. The engine will be rebuilt completely due to the seized center cylinder.
Everything else is just being cleaned, hand polished and put back together to keep it completely original down to the last bolt and washer.
Everything I clean comes up like new, the chrome cleans up beautifully but still has that original look, so much better than triple plated over restored look parts get when rechromed. Frame / swing arm stands come up beautifully with a few nicks here and there that just makes it look better. So thats the plan will post some pics later.
Paint is at Left Center Right in Connecticut and they are restoring the original paint scratches etc being sorted looking forward to see how that comes out.

Paint has had its first clear coat.....LCR said they could blend in and try and match original paint but there were more dings and dents and paint inconsistencies near decals etc that a repaint would be a much better outcome. While it was down to metal I also had it re protected and Caswelled inside. Each paint set gets put into mounting jig and index points made for stripes and letters. they are then drawn in cad program cut checked and adjusted until they match. All stripes and letters are paint not decals which is amazing. After more clear coats it should be with me next week.

Hi Steve,
Yes they said they sort the filler ring out before they send them back that's how they do it I guess. Should be killer with some more coats of clear on it.
They will be doing my Red KH250A5 set as well as part of a "job lot" if I'm happy with the KH400 which looks good to me so far !!

OK bad news is crank doesn't look good, one web/journal/rod very rusty will have crank builder assess it.
Gearbox bad selector forks burned and worn/discolored, dogs worn/discolored must have had a very hard 10K miles. Luckily I have a 2K g/box from my NOS S1C rebuild that I can swap out the bad parts for hopefully.
Does anyone here re-use the G/box ciurclips or do you buy new ones? Have been looking they seem pretty hard to get hold of looking at evil bay and Partzilla.
Cases are off to vapor blasters lets hope they come back nice and clean we'll see.
Cleaning up rust on rear shocks at the moment coming out very nicely will post some pics shortly......
