I will begin trying to start up my s2a that i recently purchased soon.  Everything is there, but i have ablsolutely no power to anything when i hook up a battery.  Is there a fuse box that i am missing or something?  There is one fuse in line with the positive terminal that is still good.  When i turn the key, no dash lights, no spark, no nothing.   Anybody got any good places to start looking for my problem?

Check the battery earth terminal, if your frame has been powder coated you will need to scrape some away where the earth loop bolts to the frame next to the battery holder.

After that, the white wire is your first trace.. there is a single bullet connector from the battery to the fuse holder.. check you have twelve volts both sides of the fuse, put the meter probe on the metal clip not the fuse body to test.
From the fuse holder it goes to a single bullet connector near the battery, check for 12v there too.
Next stop, inside the headlamp is a 6way connector to the ignition switch, the white wire reappears there, check for 12v at both sides of the connector

Then report back.

Oh! do you get a rear light with the ignition switch in the 'park' position?

just had exactly the same fault and it was the ignition switch, 1st one i've ever known to be faulty

thats a rareity so check all of the above first

Hello, I have a slightly different problem but maybe you can help. My S1 is in first kick condition.... Sometimes. Other times i have to run and push start it or kick for 20 minutes and remove the plugs and check for spark. I dont know what is going on. could it be a faulty kill switch?

It usually does not show spark when i remove the plugs but after I put them back in it starts right up.... I have no idea what is going on

well guys, thanks to your help, i now am getting power to my points.  I am pretty sure i need new points and have ordered a new set.  I get power on one side of the contacts, but not the other.  Have tried sanding the contacts, but still no luck.  Its like this on all 3.

You won't get power on the bottom of the contacts because its ground (frame/earth).

You should have 12v on one side for a part of an engine revolution only.

OH!!  after you sanded the contacts did you run some card through the points to remove the sand? any remaining sand will stop them closing properly.

If there are still no sparks...........

Lay all three plugs on top of the cylinders (still connected to the leads) and measure the points..  any one you find with 12v on one side, short those points with a screwdriver and a spark should appear on the corresponding plug.

Turn the engine until the others (in turn) have 12v and do the same.

Once you have a spark confirmed on all three (by the screwdriver method) just turn the engine over by hand and watch for a spark on all three, if any one is missing, then concentrate your cleaning and adjusting efforts on that set of points until it does spark.
