first you clean the aluminum with metal prep, type of acid then you etch the metal with aladine and let dry. it allows paint to stick to aluminum so it will not peel off. It's an aircraft painting process.

By the way; clutch basket really looks new. Or just low mileage? Nice finish all the way! More pics, please!
