I have found that, to avoid flooding when starting, I kick over with the petrol tap closed, and then switch it on when engine is started.
Also, re bad starting and idling, I have upped the pilot jet from the stock 20, which is woefully inadequate, to 25, and no probs with starting since, and it idles without cutting out. The choke can be fully released after about 5 seconds from cold starting, massive improvement over stock.

Hi
I think I might be on a winner with the KH400, as I got my exciter coils back yesterday and have put them on and fingers crossed she is starting first kick when it is hot and about 3 when cold  as before it was anything from 5 - 10 or more, but as they say I wont count my chickens ;-) till next year when it will be the proof in the pudding  as that is when it will come out of hibernation and be used so as I say we will see,
Thank you all for the input just hope that do the trick
All have a Merry Christmas and hope we all have a better New year

Evening Ali,
Simon H reckons that if your bike won't start, it's because you kick it like a girl. :D :D Also, when you get to your age, your exciter coils will have given up ages ago! :-D :-D
