Wiring helpCan I get some advice here to check I'm doing this right!
I usless with wiring
The new rec/reg 3 yellows and the loom connectors
I've fitted a new 3 pin plug, this OK?
The rec/reg also has red, green and black wires, I connected the red direct to the battery positive and the green to the battery negative but where should I connect the black? there is a brown wire from the loom over too
Battery connections
There is also brown and orange wires from the loom, I don't know where to connect them?

Brown and Orange should have flat connectors and go to the indicator relay.
Using the reg/rec colours as an idiots guide:.....
Red sounds correct, I would suspect that Black goes to the frame (bat neg) but then have no idea on the remaining Green.
You really need to look at the paperwork for the reg/rec to see where the green and black should go, but your three yellows also sound correct.

So I should remove the rec/reg green from the battery and put the black there instead?

Ask Angel? she has a 250n....
However............. a chap on Ebay selling laminated copies foolishly printed a picture..
Three Yellows you have correct, Red you have correct, Green you have correct to battery negative (or frame, ground, earth, whatever you like to call it), the Black (for some Honda reason) goes to the indicators so ignore that one but insulate it (or if you like, you can remove the Brown from the indicator relay and put it there).
The Brown wires in the loom are switched 12v and your spare one used to go to the regulator so make sure it's not gonna short anywhere, it should have an insulated sheath type jap connector on there anyway (not a bare spade).
And.. Robert, is your Mother's brother.

So here's the full spec for this CB250/400n rec/reg with 3 yellow 1 red 1 green and 1 black wires.
3 yellows to the original loom wires
Red direct to the possitive battery terminal
Green direct to the negative battery terminal
The black connects to the brown from the loom

wiring is hard over mail, more of a hands on job, with a pro like gray, like the exclusion clause, incase it blows the bike up !!, i have something similar on my bike, works well that combined reg /rec,..but paid to get it done,...like the R' clip tray,.will have alook,

I got a full b/w diagram from Angel and it was obvious then that the black is the voltage sense point (the brown on kh250 type reg).
Leaving the black disconnected would have done little damage (beyond 100m), I'm sure the house insurance would cover it.

I can't get the hooter to work? I think it's the switch on the bar not working, I've bought a new one.

If you haven't got the control cables fitted you will need to run a wire from the handlebars to the frame.
The handlebars are rubber mounted and use the cables for earth return..
First actual check, is for 12v at each side of the horn, then 12v on the centre of the horn button.
If you have all three then it's the above problem.
