weak spark

Me again got the regulator prob sorted but now have a weak spark on r/h cylinder it will chime in now and again !! would it be the coil or condenser starts from cold fine!! any ideas
The Wolfman

Is it definitely a weak spark?

Intermittent popping on one cylinder does not automatically mean that the spark is weak, low compression, carb problems, oily plugs, or even just faulty plugs can all cause this intermittent effect.
And just because a plug sparks when held on the cylinder head doesn't mean it will ignite a fuel air mix when it's inside the cylinder.
First thing is to put in a new set of three plugs.

But only you can find this one, you have a couple of spare everythings on the bike so you can do some swapping around.

if you suspect a coil, swap the plug lead with its neighbour, then swap the (blue/green/black ?) too so that the points still fire the correct cylinder.

Plugs obviously enough.

Carbs.

You can at a pinch remove a complete points assembly (inc condenser) and swap the positions of those too.

cheers wolfman tried swapping coils, plugs, new condensers and plugs !! if i hold plug cap just off top of the plug it tries to fire stick it back on and nothing. i think i am chasing two probs !! when you said carbs do you mean float heights ? couse it only does about 20 to the gallon or is that norm ? thanks bubba
The Wolfman

That problem with the stick it on - no fire is usually down to plugs getting wet or oily, when you hold the plug off you get a much hotter spark in the cylinder, and usually after a few minutes it will continue to fire even when reconnected.

Twenty to the gallon is the norm for some models and crap for others, KH250 should get much better than that....

Looking through some of your previous posts I should say that cleaning the carbs and setting float heights is something that should be done as part of routine maintenance, problems or not.
simonh

even when i was ten stone wet through and given it nippon seiko in every gear i was still getting at least 30 to the gallon

something is desperately wrong mate

do all adjustments, then start looking for terminal problems if it doesnt change

weak spark

hello chaps you'll like this !! the weak spark was the adjusting screw on the points .went to reset them and the last little tweek the screw just kept turning
so tapped a new thread had too file backing plate out so they would adjust.then it fired up on three put my helmet on it went back on two bollocks i thought. so cleaned carbs set float heights new plugs again found the exhausts full of oil and fuel but she's on three yipee . did'nt realise triples are so bloody finicky no wonder i sold mine for a gs550 back in the day. thanks boys for your help and i'll upload some pics later for you all
