Sparking Mad on KH250 B3Come to the conclusion after checking everything, changing points, condensors, leads, caps, and plugs (5) timed (dial gauge) and I still have the one problem that I just can't get past and that is the plugs have fantastic big blue spark when put against cylinder and kicked over with plug cap barely on top of plug, do the same again but push plug cap fully onto plug and the plug won't spark at all ????? Does anybody know what causes this and is there a solution because i,m absolutely at the end of checking everything twice and 3 times and now know its definately something to do with the whole ignition system, but what ???? Why does a plug NOT spark with the cap fully on and spark when its nearly OFF ?

That's a Strange one KH, I think you might be missing something important, take a really close look at the caps / plugs and how they connect together.
Do you have the bare thread on top of the plugs or a screw on collar? some caps need the collar, others need just a bare thread.
Rest the plug/cap (fully connected together) slightly away from the cylinder head and see where the spark now jumps to the head from, it should be from the metal of the plug but I would now expect it to come from elsewhere.....
last resort, take the caps off, trim the wire to leave you a bare bit of wire at the end and trap it under the collar on the plugs (so, no cap needed, wire goes straight onto plug).

All the above, as graham is the god of electrics :thumright:
Also HT cable is shite when its old, you may find your screwing into nothing but plastic as the cable has retreated. By the time its workable you'll find your HT leads are a couple of inches too short!

If the engine's rubber mounted, do you have the ground strap on? Seems I had that trouble with my bike. What happens when you run the bike with the headlight on?
