S3As you may know, my dad, 60 in july, bought a 74 S3 recently. His first triple and first Kawasaki He's bringing the bike over from Sweden on thursday. I'm apparantly the one who's wrenching on it I don't know shite about S3's, so I have to pick some brains here. I'll start with what I think is a no brainer for you S gurus.
The bike has a euro rear mudguard, did the US model have a shorter guard or just a plastic inner one ?
Cheers

I will mate
Does the euro model have the same plastic inner ? Meaning, if the euro guard is removed then it will be just like the US model ?

I put in a new battery today, took out a plug and kicked it over. There's spark ! Cleaned the carbs, too. The pilots were clogged and the mains were partially clogged. The carbs are missing the adjusters on the top, but I've put on adjusters from a set of KH500 carbs I have. According to KIC they're not the same as the S3 ones. Anyone know the difference ? The carb clamps were stretched, so that they wouldn't grip on the inlet. I've hacksawed a groove on top of the clamps that should do the trick. Thanks Scouse ! Sorted the fuel tap as well with the kit that g6 sent. Turned out that the gasket between the tank and the tap wasn't there. No wonder it leaked. I replaced everything I could anyway. The filter (strainer ?) in the tap bowl is ripped. Is this available ?
One of the baffles are missing from the otherwise very good set of pipes. Scouse thought he might have a spare. Top man ! The threads on the oil pump inlet are toast. I see a helicoil in my magic ball. Front brake need sorting. The callipper is dragging. The old man had to lift it off the disc to get the bike on the trailer. Guess I'll go for a callipper- and a master rebuild kit.
Small things, really. I'm certain that the bike will start when I get the carbs back on. Top end compression seems good as well. It's fun to play with a new model. I've only done H series. Cheers

The S3 fired at the 5th kick, but only runs on 2. Center cyl is out. The bike probably hasn't run in at least 10 years. Maybe not since 1985.
Quality I tells ya !

Decided to have a go at the missing center cyl today. Turned out to be poor contact at the points. Now running on all 3 and idles as well. It's smoking like a jamaican reggae festival, though. Also put in the baffle that Scouse sent. It arrived yesterday. Cheers Bat
