You can get a bench grinder for the price of a cheap drill, AND its safer

make sure its at least a 350watt motor or they are crap!

It should rotate like a bench grinder. Get a motor from an old washing machine if you want to save a few quid.
Just nick one from one of the new machines at work

i would agree with that.350w minimum.The thing is with a polshing mop and a wire wheel it will save so much effort that it will definitely pay for itself mate...

i'll do it the hard way, like i always used to
bead blast then 800 1000 1200 then tons of elbow grease

Even if you have a good machine, wet sanding will always get you a better result.
..that's wet sanding before you polish on the machine..
