Well it didn't exactly go according to plan. About 10 miles into the journey we stopped at some lights and I noticed steam coming from Daves (Higgsy) handlebars. Posh b#st#rd I thought, he's got heated grips. Next minute I realise its not steam but smoke and its pouring out of his handlebar switch, headlight and underseat. Serious meltdown, Higgsy quickly whipped up the seated and yanked out a handful of wire.
There used to be plastic insulation on those copper strands! Hope its not as bad as it looked Dave.

we reckon the battery positive terminal had touched an earth bolt put on as an extra at sometime in bikes life,.

any pics of what we missed Adrian,
dont know if the streetfighter boys turned up or not, 7 of us set off,...

Back home and all sorted now. Some srious rewiring and a dozen or so new terminals and we are back in business. Thanks for your help today boys :thumright:
I had visions of it going up in flames in front of my eyes
Thankfully i caught it before it took hold. The worst damage was in the headlamp shell. I had to remove it and strip back nearly every wire in there :(
I guess removing the inline fuse wasn't such a good idea then :smt102

glad you caught in early and got it sorted dave and there was no serious damage ,it could have been terminal not just for the bike but your bollocks too!!!
I guess you will be putting the inline fuse back in
