NTR - EGR Valveon my zafira, the EGR Valve is giving a fault code so the management light is coming on.
Anyone know if it will affect the CAT if I blank of the EGR, and will there be anyother side effects. I'm assuming that more damage would result if I left the faulty unit in operation.
Reason I ask is, its a common fault on vauxhalls, and fitting a new one would only cure it temporarily (3000 - 10000 miles)

depends on the age of the car but most wont run without the egr valve just had this problem on a vauxhall 2.2 diesel frontera/vectra engine also it can show faulty egr valve if the little air pipes are bust on the car very hard to find without a vacum tester took me all last week to find this after buying a egr valve

I had an astravan years ago and the airbag light used to come on regularly.I put some black insulating tape on the dash covering the light. That seemed to do the trick

It might be the bulb that's faulty if it keeps coming on.

sorry steve i meant theres nothing to dissemble on the petrol one, the diesel one you can actually get to the valve and clean it.

Apparently you can blank it then program it out of the ecu, so the ecu deosnt sense it anymore.
just its driving like a dog now, so want to blank it and sort the ecu programming later
