New addition to the collectionOK I'll bite.
I just bought this one last Saturday.
'77 6600 miles, never been dropped, new rear tire, all cleaned up and running good. Chrome is spotless. Everything is there. The airbox has been removed, but I have it. The rubber hoses are hard as plastic. Big scrape in the tank paint, but no dent. $750

I've seen them (KH400s) on ebay go for $1500. The guy who sold me this one knew what he was doing. He is a big collector and has a philosophy where he wants to keep these bikes in the hands of people who care. This is the second bike I purchased from him. He told me he once had a generous offer for a GT380 that he had restored to near perfect condition that he turned down because the the guy was a broker and was going to export it to the UK. He said he would sell it for a lot less to someone in the states that would keep it. Sorry to all you on that side of the pond.
Here is the GT380 he sold me last year: He did all the work. Same price. :-D

Thanks! 8)
There is one more bike in my collection. This one is the one that started the whole thing. You see, back in the '70s when I was a teenager, I owned an RD 350. Due to the lack of an internet, I had no idea what I was doing. I slapped a set of chambers on it and didn't re-jet it. Riding on the freeway, I holed a piston. Sold it to a friend for nothing. But over the years I kept having dreams about that bike. Then one day, I was surfing Ebay and stumbled across an RD in my neck of the woods. The day before, I wasn't even thinking of owning a motorcycle, two days later, it was in my garage. I did a lot of work on it to get it running again although the kid who sold it to me claimed it was a runner. But I knew what I was getting into. Thank the good Lord for the internet. :D

Don't your neighbours get on your case about all those nasty 2 stroke fumes polluting the air?

:-D :-D :-D :-D
Our neighbours get plenty of 4 stroke loud exhaust noise, can't wait to see the 2 stroke smoke wafting gently over the hedge in the direction of their clean washing drying on the line......
Can't wait to hear what they have to say. Think they'll be impressed? :-)

Don't think they're old enough, Mal. Everyone round here seem to be counting down the decades to death......

Noob to this site, 15 years since last tripleHi all, another Manchester wallah by the looks of things.
Just acquired this beastie from a mate who had it sat in a lock up since the last ice age.
It's a '76 KH400 with 30k on the clock. Engine seems ok with good compression. Rest is tatty to say the least, but all seems to be there. Previous clowns have painted the wheels gold (???) and someone's had a go at painting the tank and R-send, but run out of patience /skill/money.
Here's to many many long nights in the shed to come :-D

Hi Twiggy,
Where are you in Manchester?
I take it from your post that it wasn't your mate who did the artwork then! :)
Certainly a good few nights in with that one eh? Bet you and the off licence manager will be on first name terms within 2 weeks.
Regards,
Gary.

Hi Gary
Chadderton, Oldham to be exact, but close enough to the Manc border as to make no difference.
I've just spent a couple of hours staring, spraying WD40, staring some more, removing exhausts and then staring at the gallon of oil that spilled out of one of them onto the floor! :(
Oh.....this is going to take a long time.
It' the 2nd triple I've taken on. The first was in 1992, and it was a 1979 KH250. Took me a year, but worth the grief. I've had a soft spot for triples ever since I were a lad in the 70's. and the 250 was my dream bike as a 17 year old. Not to be, I'm afraid until many years later.
Thanks for the offer of assistance. I'm sure you'll get fed up with me asking dumb questions.
Oh and yes, me and the offie bloke, Mohammed, are on good terms already, ta very much! He takes my money, smiles and give me Stella in reurn. I drink it, I smile, I fall over, I go back the next day.

It makes my 250 project look like a walk in the park. Just keep that mental picture of it gleaming in the sunlight
