NOS S1C Update

Hi there, just the engine to rebuild. I have Damon Kirkland crank fitted, NOS Cylinders/pistons/electrics complete just waiting for a NOS drive shaft to come up on evilbay then I can finish it...pics later...trent

You've done a beautiful job on restoration. I had one of those in the late 1970s (in Britain) exactly the same colour. A great looking and fun bike in its day - with incredible acceleration. The photos made me feel nostalgic. I'd love to see photos of the bike completely rebuilt. By the way, do you have the original specs? I just wonder how much horsepower they turned out...

Very best wishes

Hi Wolfman, did you restore that bike yourself? It looks like it's just come out of the showroom - it's in magnificent condition. Do you actually take it out on the road regularly? How does it feel? This was the bike that turned me on to triples. I now have the Triumph Speed Triple 1050 which has a great engine and handling. However, the 250 S1C really impressed me in its day in terms of the engine - even the drum brakes weren't bad for the time. Many thanks for posting the photo.

Hi Lumpus, yep I did everything except the chrome, paint and seat cover.

I do ride her quite often but only when there are no clouds anywhere near the horizon.

Picture? did you not click on the picture? there's the whole story to look at.

Hi wolf man. Missed the link the first time so just had a look at your photo history and the restoration. It must be incredible to have done so much on the same bike - I sold mine more than 20 years ago. By the way, the bike seemed to have incredible acceleration - do you know what kind of horsepower your model turned out (before you bored it out to 350)? The later KH turned out something like 28bhp but I think it was a little less powerful than the S1C. Great to have seen the photos - thanks again for sharing them.

Great story Wolfy, see that fairing you have on there in France?

I have the very same one here but we've lost the bottom brackets got the top one, if anyone interested in it, its like brand new

see you had your nose underlined aswell

I still have the fairing and bracketry in the garage (hung on the refters) I did consider putting it back on but...

In those days me hair were dark enough, now its so grey you can't tell...

She was always pretty quick on acceleration especially 350 on 250 sprockets, but I tamed her by putting 400 sprockets on, with the fairing she would sprint straight up to the ton and 5 on the clock.

Not sure of the power figures for the various models, they were slowly strangled over the years and are usually quoted as 28.
