modifying cylinders

thanks to a secret mad professor  in the states, i now have some modified inlets to mount my 30mm carbs with.  But I need to 'buildup' an area around the inlet on the barrel.  JB weld is what was used in the states, whats best to use in the UK?  obviously needs to be temp and oil/petrol proof.

What about building it up with ally weld (tig) then flatting that off???

First would suit my budget (£0)

need to keep this cheap as the carbs might not work anyway

If it's on the inlets i believe araldite will work well...back in the 80's it was used by tuning firms to reduce the diameter of the inlet ports on the 2.0 ohc pinto ford engine as the stock inlet was too wide and slowed the gas speed..

where its marked in red, i need additional ground there for the rubber inlet to seal against, thansks adrian

As above, Araldite should be fine, its under no real extremes of temp/pressure in that position, you might even get away with Isopon filler (Its easier to work when set).

TBH, there looks to be enough face to do without.

That is a pic of a stock S1 port. Once the port is opened up to match the manifold there will be less than 2mm of surface along the top of the port.

Oh, sorry. Does that mean I'm not supposed to post pics like this?

What's happened to the output shaft FM, or is it a secret?
falconman

New shafts (and a few other parts) will be made to make it a drop in for any S series bike. The secret is the number of gears.
