a Merican' sent it over £40,...still wondering looks old school, unsure of the swinger for a light racer, its not heavy just bulky,...love the air shocks... :thumright:

husson73

Thanks Brian now I will try to find one cause with the genuine tank at highspeed you stop everytime.
180kid

just drilled the 250 engine mounts as said to rubber mount, by hand, (elecy drill) with 23mm bit, for front rubber mounts, 2 x, fit tight, good, other 6 are bigger 25mm pre-drilled by me eye line only, looks good, bolts slot sraight through,  overseed by engineer son !?,.
finikey bugger but good,..lol, i think i know what i'm doing (der 50) but has to be checked,  :D

got a picture but no chance looks like i'm a rough b'tard, its smooth ok,.. :thumright:
my elbow hurts from drill grabbing,.
The Wolfman

Thinking of drilling my own rubber mountings by hand Brian, but we have a big pillar drill at work, bottom line.. would you recommend it?
180kid

The Wolfman wrote:

YES Graham,
drilled with engine together, casings on, totally masked of the crankcases,
balanced on a milk crate !, one person holding,
with right bit and drill at right speed, was reamer drill with pilot end 2 sizes one drill bit, you'll get the feel and the drill just minces the alloy,
if you mean recommend by trial?, not tried it yet to see if it helps vibes, thats a long way off,.. :thumright:
The Wolfman

I was just asking about the drilling phase, there are already many glowing recommendations about the result of fitting rubbber mounts.

Last time I spoke to Scouse, he told me that the front mounting has to be moved outward when drilling to avoid breaking into the engine cavity?
I'd not seen or heard of this before.

Were all your drillings straight down the existing centres?
:smt023

?? talking 250's

straight through the original holes, cant see the crank, lol ? same casings as kh4? rubber mounted,...thinks thats on the 750's you have to off-set the front holes......... :thumright:
simonh

bri, prob right re h2.  the 250 cases have a little less meat than the 400's tho.  nice one tho :thumright:
The Wolfman

Ah yes of course, it does say at the top, cheers Brian.
180kid

bit further, have adapted the H2 maifolds (slotted the holes) to align with the carb mount holes in the S2 barrels, H2 carbs, reeds are in ...not much room in there  , loosly ftted just to see,..

and rubber mounts done, seems to ok for 'meat'

g6mow

Looking good Brian.  :thumright:

Will we see it this season or is it a 2009 model :D

180kid

my GOD...!!!,
its like going back to the 70's (crazy head then etc) cept' you try to do it right this time round....no point in just skimming the heads no wonder the feckers' seized up, :D  :D  :thumright:
180kid

beavering away,

the center pipe dodges the swinger as if it was made to fit around it !, an earlier concern sorted,.

rearsets work great if but a little cramped on the knees,.

biggest headache of all, where to start wiring the fekker up !!,.
kas750

original taps even a worse fit,.
g6mow

g6mow wrote:

thanks Si,
whats an inline tap?,
have already cut the outlet off though in my rage, and drilled new hole,...lol...Burtons eng doing another thread, so moved it is,... :thumright:
The Wolfman

looks like you could have simply turned the tap through 90deg!

Should I have said that earlier?
180kid

tried all the options guys, the bottom outlet dosnt move its directly over the adjuster, so was float bowl on orig tap...
ja-moo

Like this Brian?

180kid

cheers John, good one,
the tank wasnt pushed forward into position in pic, and the 2 other (prongs) outlets are pushing down on the cable,...have moved tap outlet  back now and the kicker is hitting the tap before it locks home...  should have just put it on the other (stock) side when had the chance, no worries easy fix with different kicker,...
180kid

HIGGSPEED

Brian (and everyone else), i thought you might like some photos of the progress so far on you dencos repair/modification. They were a bit flattened in places   ,but we have managed to bring the bits we are keeping back to round. Just FYI guys Brian asked me to replace the damaged sections and fit stinger tailpipes with remobable stinger cans. This is the progress so far.

The little tiny stinger cans look cool, i will post a pic asap. Should be ready for final fitting this weekend Brian  :thumright:
Cheers
Higgsy
simonh
