All the cooling problems now solved with a bios update
so obviously the earlier bios never controlled fans properly.
core never above 65 c so now running 20-30 c cooler than before
fucking ell wish i'd downloaded that 2 weeks ago before i changed battery, fan, heatsink and mini pci wireless card

Computers are like that.
A few years ago I built a pc that would regularly crash or freeze. Ended up changing almost every component, including the motherboard before I found out it was a dodgy cheap ram chip bought from a computer fair. Never bought a cheap computer component since.
