Standard bearing don't fit. ALL-Balls and the like suppliers grind the bearing races to fit the triples. Partsnmore.com carry the modded bearings.

they are an obscure size, regular bearing suppliers dont have them in ?, and look at you stupid when they havnt got em', see if i can find specs for you as have a new set lying around somewhere,...same size for all kawa triples....

personally i would'nt bothet with taper rollers. You can have issues with the headlamp ears not fitting correctly and if they are not set up absolutely perfectly they can make the steering feel nervous. You can buy buy enough new ball bearings to do 4 triples on ebay for about a tenner.

but what about the 30 year old races ade, thats what made me change mate

have never noticed a difference in the workability or longevity, of fitting tapered bearings compared to standard cup and cone !, only the fact that the headlamp is loose with the higher sitting tapered ones, easy fix though,..
kas750

Fairplay if they are fucked but i suspect a lot of people fit tapered because they consider it to be a definite improvement and i don't think it neccessarily is.As  ever with handling issues it's all about feel which is a very subjective thing.

I found two bikes that the races were badly dented at the gap this year. both had "click" centering steering, and neither rider knew it. They will when they get their tapered bearings in. Night and day. I have done 100's of wheelies in the 12 years on the same set of tapers, and the bearings are still as smooth as when I put them in.

Tapers are just a better answer. I personally do the update to any bike I ride, another thing I don't have to worry about or do again.

To each their own......

Grezman, I got mine from Spen Bearings, they have shops in Cleck', Hx and Leeds.

If you are building a show bike you will find that the tapers are noticeably taller than standard races and you will need to add spacers to the headlamp ears.

Sorry Si, you were a bit slow pushing your stuff so I thought you didn't sell them.

Cheaper than Wemoto too, no brainer.
