Good look with the rebuilds, keep us up to date with more piccys as you go on as we are all nosey round here , looks like more money in mr lister pot you better get stocked up on parts simon
did you pay a good price for them?

it always astonish's me how many people strip bikes down with good intensions of restoring them and then totally lose interest
there must be loads around the country in boxes  trouble is i don't know any of them

cheers
Al
The Wolfman

You'll be a triples guru by the end of that restoration Billy. good luck with it, we're always here when the going gets tough.

garyb

bluesmokebilly

Cheers i`m sure i will at some point , already had grief with clutch pusher ,oil leaking out so thought i`ll just take it out and then gasket put back together and sorted ........wrong !! totally mangled it getting it out coated in plastic so was jamed in . had another so swopped around but not only does it not like it it now leaks again , it was one of those days where i just wheeled the bike back in the garage after achieving sod all . Still westons cider tasted particularly nice that night , and will attack again soon but might get the ball bearing clutch pusher ,have read other posts and it seems this is a well known problem , do you knw the best place to get one ?? cheers
The Wolfman

Billy we all have days like those, but it's probably just a preparation for the next day, you know what the problems are, you already have them thought out in your mind before you go to the garage..

Then you get the biggest hammer and chisel and the thing comes off in a second. :D

I was struggling with exhaust studs last night, as usual, all except one came off (with varying degrees of fight), at least now I know when I go in there tonight I need to take the drill and bits with me. :(
bluesmokebilly

indeed , all part of the fun i suppose , and when it all goes well it`s as if nothing was ever a problem , happy days , anyone know where a can pick up the ball bearing type clutch release or actuator ?? many thanks Billy
kas750

You can actually buy a sytec clutch actuator from www.reproductiondecals.com   this is considered to be the ultimate clutch actuator for triples... 8)
bluesmokebilly

Hi There many thanks Billy
simonh

jeez they've doubled in price since last year with exchange rate
bluesmokebilly

MMMMMMMM 147 DOLLARS  i think i will leave that for the moment any other options ???
The Wolfman

So much for my previous comments...

last night stripped a cylinder head removed all except one exhaust stud which sheared (right at the base of course.

Go back tonight armed with taps to clear many holes and drill to remove stud.

Found many holes already had helicoils (added a couple more myself), and snapped a fooking drill bit inside the stud, Grrr.

Big job just turned to Major.
The Wolfman

But I did manage to remove all the valves....??

just be aware that if you fit a ball bearing clutch lifter you will have to change the seal as well (which are difficult to get hold of)

you will need to split the casings to do this
