Curiously, it's also the same color than most of the 72 S1s or the lonely HIC tank :smt077  :smt083  :smt074  :D  8-)  :-D

It is all happening now!  8-) My barrels are off to be bored today to fit my new wiseco pistons. I have stripped and bead blasted the carbs. They are now ready for assembly. I plumbed and bled the brakes front and back. I have painted and fitted the front mudguard. Fitted my new clutch cover (cheers Keith) and put oil in it. I can see me getting it running next weekend!  :-D  :-D
The question is ...........will it be ready for the TT or will i have to take my tired 400?????  :smt102  :smt102
I will take some pictures tonight for you all to have a look at  :thumright:
Higgs!
HIGGSPEED

Ok, wheeled it out tonight for some proper photos.  :D
Got my mate bob to laser me a heelguard today to cover the rear master cylinder. I drew it on a bit of paper and he made a great job in stainless (of course  ), but now i have polished and fitted it i am not sure i like it   . May make a mk2 version tomorrow that is a bit taller, what do you think?  :smt102

As you can see i used a neat little banjo bolt brake light switch which works a treat. I think i will lose the reservoir though and just cap the feed tube . I should never need to top it up anyway  :D

Anyway, this is the bike as of tonight;

This last picture has my newly recovered 2/4 seat........but i dont like it  :(

Carbs tomorrow night and i pick up the rebored barrels on Saturday.
I am only allowed a couple of hours a night in the garage    , but guess what ! 'Er indoors is off to the phillipines to visit her family on sunday for 2 weeks, so...........
I will have uninterrupted triple time every night !!   :-D  :thumright:

Well my weary droogs, here we are again. Another weekend gone and i still seem to have a list as long as mmm ........a very long thing.
I got my freshly rebored barrels back but my excitement was spoiled when i went to assemble the top end. The little end bearings i had bought off e bay were a mismatched set of 3. 2 were H1 but one little rascal was kh and too small. :? . A quick phone call and 180 kid comes to the rescue with a spare new one  :thumright:  cheers Brian. It all went well until i went to fit the carbs. All 3 slides went up ok but didnt want to come down again. Bugger. After friggin about for hour with wd40 and hours of massage , i gave up. I stripped them down and thoroughly washed everything in petrol, and reassembled them in clinical sterile conditions. Well ok i wiped down the bench and laid fresh tea towels out . You can tell 'er indoors has gone away can't you  :-D
The engine now has better compression with the plugs out than my 400 has with them in! Never mind ,rebore for the purple screamer is next on my list, along with the twin disc fork leg set up i have got sat in my garage waiting to be fitted.
New points and condensers ( cheers G6 mow  :thumright: ) and we have ignition! Next was the exhausts, i made a hybrid set with 400 front pipes and H1 spec centres. I am quite pleased with how they look considering they are longer than normal for this chassis. Well thats it for tonight. Here are the latest pics, but believe me, there is still a long way to go before it hits the street, but it is getting closer day by day. Can't wait !

cheers
Higgsy :thumright:

looking good Dave,....dont forget the 500ml running in period with new rebore... :D  no more than 30mph... :D
as if,...main thing is to warm them wesicos up to temp or they can nip up, i heard, no revving the nuts off it,...wont be long now..... :thumright:

Sound advice that Brian, cheers, i must admit i am worried about running in the new bores. i think i would break down and blubber if i seized it up
simonh

i normally sieze new pistons within 50 miles   too impatient.  fully heated up before you give it beans is the way :thumright:
Eastbourne prankster

looking good dave, looks like someone elses bike, have you tried to fit the engine sprocket cover yet?  my one, i have had to cut a load off it to get it to fit in, also i've had to add 3 inches to the side stand,
   yours looks almost done  :thumright:
kas750

pipes look awesome :thumright: are they stainless?
HIGGSPEED

EP Yes i have had to file a lot off the back of the sprocket cover but it looks ok. :thumright:  Incidentally , i have fitted the larger mk2 heel guard which now sports parallel slots instead of holes. I have made a few spares in case you want one as you appear to have the exact same rear master cylinder. I will take a better photo tomorrow for you. Your back end must be way higher than stock to modify the side stand like that.    Mine sits at exactly the original ride height for a 400, so my stand is ok.

Kas750 , Adrian the picture shows the exhausts in the raw state. It is stainless but i only polish them when they are fully tig welded up. Bitch of a job, but the end result is worth it.

Simon , i am going to be ultra careful :?  i assure you!! I can't afford another top end  :eye:

newsflash.
It started up tonight for the first time!!!! Only ran it for a couple of seconds, but boy was that a relief!!

I think you forgot to type in your reply there Ali  :smt102
Any how, pipes are welded up but not polished ,but sod that, and as Wolfie so rightly pointed out , sod the neighbours too, it is time to fire 'er up proper!!  :thumright:
Heres a quick picture as i wheeled it out of the garage, (but before i put the side panel badges on), you can see the heel guard better in this one. I haven't fixed the seat catch yet, so yes it is held down with a rubber band

Still loads to do but you get the idea!

Here is a little video of the first proper start up, apologies for the dodgy camera work ,but my 16 year old step-daughter took it. It smokes like a pig , but thats a good thing i guess as it tries to burn off the excess two stroke from assembly. It also blows out of the right hand header as i haven't bothered to seal them until after i polish them, but hey ho , i'll just shut up and show you the video

thats great Dave,
just wind them airscrews out a touch !!?? sure i got shares in that one.... :D  :thumright: no worries.

I think it is a close call actually Brian, whether it is you or Simon who has the most shares in it for the title of "most scrounged parts"  :-D  :-D
Seriously though, a big thank you to everyone that has contributed including Keith from ulverston, Brian Curley, Tony D, Brian Hamilton in Ohio, Bob Kent (Top Engineer and laser man)but especially you and the long suffering Simon G6MOW without whom i would be skint and divorced!!  :D

As for that race ......... Parliament Square to Hilberry ???

Had a busy weekend at Stafford helping Simon so i didn't get time to let you know about my latest news on the special. I asked blood donor Bob to make me some washers to space out my front sprocket (long story) so in typically over engineering fashion he made me these amazing spacer washers  :thumright: . The ally spacers are for the rear sprocket.

How sad , getting excited about washers , but they are cool aren't they. 1.5 mm each. But what i am most pleased with is the tubes. Worked out what they are yet??????

This is after i polished them. Not worked it out yet???

want a clue????????

I understand that torque tubes (as i call them) help the midrange on piston ported engines by allowing the fuel standoff to be uniterrupted by suddenly hitting the back of the pod filters  :smt102 . Dunno really but it sounded interesting when i read it somewhere, so hey, why not  :smt102
Apart from which i think they look cool and sort of period look with the pinch bolt on top   :pirat: .

The bad news is i didnt get time to polish the pipes (i know you like 'em like that Adrian  :D ), or even ride it yet  :( . Hopefully i will get to ride it one night this week so i will take some pictures of it complete, cos it looks nicer now with the grabrail on.
Later , my triplin' chums
180kid

freeked me out there Dave, thought you were doin a 6 cylinder... :D
put that on the yank site, see what Moo says,...lol...he races em' f'in cool though,...

i love spaghetti too
HIGGSPEED

Sorted my shocks problem now! Couldnt fit the zephyr shocks, not enough clearance for the chain at the bottom (cheers tony  :thumright: )
But after yet another donation to the Higgspeed special benevolant fund by G6mow  :thumright:  a set of hagons have transformed the handling. Not sure what they are off ,but the ride height is spot on and no more pogo cornering! They needed a bit of cleaning up ,but they turned out , mint! And no you can't have 'em back simon  :-D  :-D
