HOGHTON TOWERS

another for us norfeners,...6/4/08

http://www.hoghtontower.co.uk/newevents.php

:thumright:
malc87

ive put an entry in but still not had it confirmed :(
kas750

did hoghton tower sprint a few times on my manx.lots of waiting about at sprints for very little action though :( .as you will know malc it is far trickier to get a good launch at hoghton tower than it looks.personally i found some of the twisty sprints much more exciting :thumright:
kas750

pic of my manx norton.....god that bike sounded good..... :thumright:
simonh

Beautiful bike mate :thumright:
kas750

yeah thanks.sold it when the parental responsibilities kicked in :(
malc87

lovely bike :thumright:
im going to get a manx norton one day
in the meantime il just have to make do with my NOS unregistered commando :D

simonh

Dont you mean POS :smt102

crap like that ended the british bike industry, should have been scrapped 20 years earlier
malc87

maybe so but its still unique :D  :thumright:

I'm lucky, a mate of mine is bonkers on brit bikes, so I get to see loads of unusual stuff.  He's really into triumph triples and BSA something or others at the mo! All tuned and loud :thumright:
HIGGSPEED

Nice bike Adrian , did you race it?  :thumright:
I know a few lads who do the Manx grand prix who would kill for one of them!  :thumright: It is supposed to be the tool to have in the classic race.
kas750

yeh, raced with the vmcc, and also did a few rounds of the lansdowne series.really authentic racing, push starts and everthing  absolute weapon of a bike.62 genuine horses at the back wheel, and handles and corners like a dream...real stuff of legends them manx nortons....need massive money to be competitive these days though...my bike owed me 20k and the front runners these days probably nearer to 25k. :D

  I knew they were big money ,but didnt realise they were worth that much. I wouldnt be able to sleep at night with that much money tied up in a bike (not that i have that much anyway :eye: ). No wonder you are buying a complete set of triples  :D  :D .
At least you can use the triples on the road and get some fun out of them :thumright:
kas750

exactly what i thought as i watched it slide past me halfway through gerrards. :( all i was thinking was i hope i dont damage the bike too much........not i hope i dont cripple myself.......funny how you can prioritise things in a split second :thumright:
180kid

sorry Aid, that was one bike never to let go of....no wonder,... :(
kas750

yeh your right brian..... :thumright: ......heres one i will never sell.they can throw this one in the hole with me :thumright: 1926 ajs bigport 350.good for 85 mph.this model of bike won the 1921 junior and senior tt,beating the 500's of sunbeam and norton...note the reg, apt for a bike so successful on the island.
:thumright:
The Wolfman

Is the Purple snakey thing down to the front wheel the speedo drive?
kas750

it is yes :thumright: if one of these bikes breaks, you can usually see what :thumright: note the external pushrods and rockers..on the other side the primary drive is chain and only has a guard on its top run  dont think you could get type approval these days :thumright:
kas750

Snow showers forcasted :(  :?

Malc!
The gear shift is on the wrong side for it to be truly british!!

I'm going to admit to having a 1965 A65 lightning rocket and a 1971 Bonneville T120R. First of the oil in frame models with the tall seat. Had them both for 17 years...

Gary.
