Hard to get in gearI'm having a slight problem shifting gears, I have to apply lots of pressure to the lever to change gear, The engine has just been rebuilt, anyone have this issue and is there a know fix before I split the cases to check the box?

is the gearshaft physically stiff to turn or could it be a badly adjusted linkage???

+1
I will agree with Adrian with you having a specail cabbie and the linkages not been standard I think you will have to mess around with the linkages tweaking then trying it
looking at the standard of your work i doubt it will be internally
cheers

I set the linkage at 90deg. (I had to change to 1 up 4 down) to the shaft and it works but I still can't select neutral while the engine is running.
I don't remember the gear change being this hard! I'll run it as is for a few miles and see if it loosens up.

classic s3 clutch drag mate, select neutral before you stop, whilst still rolling, works everytime.
then you can spend days getting the clutch perfect and then it will slip instead so a tiny bit of drag is best for me, just remember to get in neutal before you stop. you get used to it
if the bike is staitionery move it back and forward and neutral will select

Dragging clutch can cause just this sort of thing.

as said before a dragging clutch is better than a slipping clutch any day of the week

The Barnet clutch has only done about 200 miles, lol lol
The gear lever is way off the pipe, I turned the lever to face down to get the 90deg. angle to the shaft, it's 1 up 4 down now!

I thought that was just normal!!

mmm not too sure about the angles on the linkage. May be a good idea to fit an rd or similar lever that doesnt have a linkage and see if it's ok then....

That picture is before, I moved the little lever to face DOWN and 90deg. to the shaft, it changes gear ok now.

Why not reverse the front (small) arm? should make only a slight difference to the angles.

It's ok now (still can't get it in neutral) I turned the little lever downward on the shaft (1 up 4 down now) and it changes ok.
