Drain the oil and reassemble the forks. Witht he frok upside down push on the slider and hit the allen wrench with a air or elec impact. Do not push on the allen wrench.

Nice one....that was gonna be my next question in two weeks

dismanteling the forks

I'm having a problem seperating the forks on my "project".

I've drained the oil reassembled, and turned upside down, depressing the slider while trying to undo the allen bolt by hand.
When reassembling do I need to put the spring, guide and spacer back in?
(also one of the fork legs has a good allen bolt in it, but the other is a bit chewed up which doesn't help!)

I've seen a special tool in the Kawasaki S series manual, but can't understand how this works.(looking inside the tube I pressume its the top of the fork cylinder I can see,and this appears to be round. How does the special tool stop the fork cylinder from turning?

Or have I got it completely wrong as usual!! Thanks for any  advice

Cheers

ya need the allen key in the bottom bolt and a long extension bar inside on the nut, its not a nut head but a 12mm or 13mm socket will tap onto the alloy end inside or Rb sells the special kawa socket to fit, its a 2 sided socket to fit the alloy nut inside, have to hold the fork bottom in the vice,
i usuaully wrap a rag around it and not really that tight to undo, a quick crack will undo it,,

dismanteling the forks

Hi 180 KID.... Thanks for the info.
Hi Gary T. I wouldn't mind taking you up on your offer. I could pop over the Pennines in my Landy at some point to suit you. Can you send me a PM or call me on 07866 068297 to sort out details?

Cheers

Neil
