clutch slip and atf...I think i might of found out why my clutch was slipping on my s3. I usually use dedicated 2t gear oil but heard people on other forums banging on about how good atf was in triple gear boxes. So against my better judgement i tried it and almost immediately the clutch started to slip when the bike came on the pipe.On the last run with the vmcc i had a real muck 'n' bullets do with a commando and trident and i think that was the straw that broke the camels back.Anyway onward and upward so i have fitted some "previously enjoyed" plates from Simon and a ball bearing lifter so hopefully all should be well.

I count 12 tabs per plate, 4 plates intact and 22 "tabs" in the parts pile so looks like the better part of six plates. That's how many are in my S bikes stock.

update on the clutch. The plates that were fitted measured 2.8mm.The service limit is 2.7mm.I had a good sift through a box of about 100 plates and managed to get a set together that measured up at 3.09mm.I was therefore able to remove the shim from under the springs, bead blast the steels and refilled with castrol gear oil and normal service is resumed.
