Bleeding the front brake.

Hi, after rebuilding the master cylinder on my B2 and fitting all new hoses as they were perished i"m now trying to bleed the front brake. after connecting up my bleed kit, filling the master cylinder with fluid and after pulling the lever 1000 times why is it not getting any better, is there an easy way such as leaving the bleed screw open for 2 hours, mopping up all the fluid, then trying it. I have had the same problem earlier on in the year with my z650, and it took nearly a week of sqeezing it, leaving it then repeating it. Is it a common thing or luck of the draw wether it works straight away??. Thanks Mark.

I have used a vacuum bleeder (the easy way   ) but was told you can tie back the lever overnight. Remove the master cylinder reservoir cover BUT then balance it back on top of where it should be fitted so that moisture in the air does not contaminate the system overnight. Pull the lever in as hard as possible and cable tie it (brake lever pulled right back to the bars). Leave this overnight and in the morning release the lever, basically the back pressure caused by tying the lever back overnight will have forced any last remaining air out of the system out to the atmosphere.

Hope this helps, but I have not tried this method myself as yet.

undo the caliper from the fork leg, undo the bridging piece on the btm yolk
lift the whole assembly as high as possible with all the brakes hoses still tighly connected, the higher the better and you will be able to bleed it through.
i was told this years ago and it always works for me.

yep like malc says, loads of places for air to get trapped.

we replaced with goodridge to the splitter and then goodridge to the caliper and it wouldnt bleed, even tying the lever back would nt do it. lift the assembly off and lift in the air did the trick.

i still use the lever tyed back, but have been told that it could damage the seals (but never has for me)
