Good question Dan.Also if you run with baffles will packing the baffles make a difference to performance? :?:

To work properly, the baffles need to be there. The baffle is a bleed tube to let the gasses out at the correct rate.

depending on the design of baffles and how much difference they make to the size of the endcan.
I ran spannies without baffles for years, but i did weld a washer on the end of each can to control back pressure
some baffles it will make no difference if you wad or not as they are just a straight through pipes. i do think it makes a difference to the noise level as it must make the sound reverbrate less or more
running without baffles wouldnt work perse try std pipes without baffels, theyre shit

its the tailpipe lenght and dia.thats important.on std.pipes the baffle is the tailpipe!

I only raised the question as some of the early race bike had a pea shooter for an end pipeother like denco have a fatter pipe with a baffle, is that down to pipe design and tuning? facinating subject.

if you split a 250 pipe you will see it is a expansion hidden in a plain pipe. the baffle slots into a long endcan.
the stingers work but are bloody loud, endcans can be tuned for both sound and performance

not advisable to run that thin type of stinger pipe on an untuned breathable motor i heard, too much back pressure, causes combustion chamber problems ?,...in what way i dont know,. 102.gif
