400 first rideit was popping and farting on lh and centre, when i was running it the other day, thort it was a couple of dodgy plugs, so changed sprockets today..to find i didnt have any 400 chains :smt102 so changed back to 250 rear sprocket and managed to find a 16 front?
took some spare plugs with me and off i went, smoking like a bstard for a mile or so then cleared, but poping and cuting out. finding somewere to stop and it packed up
pushed it to a layby, and noticed the three screws holding the timing cover on were pretty much falling out :shock: couldnt tighten by hand so pushed the cover on with my foot and rode home like that, now got groin strain :-D
now runs great, just need to sync carbs and maybe fit spannies if parts arrive :eye: :thumright:

the 16 front milds it a bit, seems to be 6000 for 70, which is alright ish, just gotta run these pistons in, one new piston and two sets of rings, how long shall i run it in for?

But these days I don't think anyone sticks to that.... I haven't, my S1 has already been up to 8k at about 50miles but not far and not often, just be sensible you'll be fine. :thumright:
