Hey there, my 16 yr old and I found a real rough S3, back a bit, free. Not running but mostly there, except exhaust and side covers. Some one went to work of spraying frame Kawi green, flat black fender and tank. Hole in float we fixed and cleaned carbs good, tank is mint inside, changed oil, new points and cond and it fired but wouldn't catch. Pushed her down the drive, popped clutch, the little beggar fired right up, and smoke. I think there must have been a ton of oil and crap down in cases because I've never seen smoke like that before. Neighbour freaked, pretty much filled her house I guess (oop's sorry). Anyway it just runs mint. I was told the rolling chassis sat outside (spokes and rims and most chrome rough to poor seat pan rotted) the motor/all electic's was inside as was tank for 5-7 years. Then sat inside for 17 years after last owner put it together and gave up on it, said it wouldn't run and lost interest. Everything now works as it should and holds a charge. We drove it around the conncessions about 20 K's and it runs/drives perfect. Bike is tore now down. Doing end crank seals, clutch and all tranny seals
etc. The boy wants his S3 to look "Rat" so it'll be repainted as is Green and black, ugly. I've found nice stock exhaust, shocks, fork tubes, axel and chain tensioners, Straight Black bars. Still hunting for a few better looking items. Aiming for spring finish. I'm a huge tripple fan, I have 2 H1's and 2 KH500's, (2 on the road 2 waiting for me to help with the S3 first) Boy I can talk can't I. At any rate, I'll see if I can post a pic here
of the "Ugly Duckling", I'm on a MAC and I can't figure out why I can't
add a flippin picture, stupid MAC
Don

Got the picture thing figured once I opened my eyes, that's my son Tommy going for his first trippple ride. Note the bungie cords holding on MY chambers and MY battery from H1 tied to MY Kawasaki Bighorn Seat. I hope he remembers where he stole all this stuff

Thats it Don start um young :D .!!!Its great when your offspring takes an interest.Good luck with the project.I think you have chosen the best route in leaving it as a rat bike.Decent S3 parts seem to be going through the roof.

I kinda brain washed him into trippples. He's learned a lot about 2 strokes,
he's been ridin and wrenchng since he was 8, and he did all the work himself on the S3 with a little guidence from me. He loves to watch me on my piped H1 and he'll even get on the back.
I just found stock bore S3 rings, $80.00 dollars a cylinder, ouch. Where's my wifes mastercard, man she's going to love me when the bill comes in, Oh well , i've been killed so many times it don't hurt no more. _________________ GONE TRIPPPLIN' |

Poor kid, too bad he wasn't born rich instead of good looking (LOL) Those brackets were custom fit bungie cords and wire. Too bad you can't see my H1 battery wrapped in cardboard and plastic and tied onto the Kawasaki Bighorn 350 seat as it was too big for battery box. He's as hooked on his first tripple as I was on mine. It has just started a reconditioning. I found a nice cylinder and piston to replace the scored ones from a siezed right cyl. It has only 8000 miles on clock. I paid a small fortune for stock bore kawi rings. Just found the other side cover. I'll post a pic when it looks like a motorcycle again, springish-summer next year. _________________ GONE TRIPPPLIN' |

the S3 is going back together now after a complete tear down. Alot of nice parts, some paint and polishing. We'll be having it in a rolling state in a week or 2. My friends say it looks awsum, green frame, black anything that bolts to the frame. We're putting the wiring on next. Got a real nice seat pan and foam, besides being a great cook and housecleaner she is also a talented seamstress and will be making us a one off seat cover, in keeping with the paint scheme. More to come, someday....
Oh ya "the boy" is doing a great job and really went at it hard for a while. He lost interest when cleaning the rust off the spokes, I had to finish the
front wheel, but the spokes look new, sort of. Remember this is a rat and
is being reconditioned on a LOW Budget so relacing the wheels is not a priority, yet. Anyway he took a few days off, it is raining here today so a night in the shop is in order. He's hooked on trippples now good, he bought
2 more S3's a couple weeks ago, there goes the rest of the LOW budget,
they were a deal of a lifetime, 2 S3's for 350 canadian Dollars albeit they aren't very pretty but 1 completly complete and one about 80%
