This is a very common fault with kawasaki single cylinder 2 stroke bikes.
if you have a bike that will not run off choke or you are looking at a for sale
add that states `will not run off choke or when hot`this is why.

There is a metal plug (disc) that fits in to carb body by the choke plunger, when it comes out,air gets in to the cylinder.
Something more to look out for if you have or are thinking of buying a
kawasaki single.

Araldite Epoxy should do the job, or any 2 part epoxy resin.

I have a buddy armed with a soldering iron. I will attempt my first ever solder (since school).

The first series of kh 125 have a different carb! There is no hole in the bellmouth to the  starter plunger. So the hole on the side of the carb is necessary to breath when choke is pulled!

IF the hole needs blanking off, it will not solder. Clean area with solvent and use araldite. The main seal is a tightly fitting metal washer/plug. The araldite is just to make sure it never moves. Araldite is petrol proof.

But, do read previous post. The hole my be required.....

Also, once off choke, the hole is sealed, and should not have any affect?

Thanks for the replies. I will try and find a way to find out about this hole.

Araldite epoxy it is.

BIG H says in his initial post that "will not run when hot" is a part of this problem so maybe there is more to it? Any ideas?
